Point Ruston Names Alesha Shemwell as Vice President of Commercial Leasing
Point Ruston, the Northwest’s newest premier waterfront destination, hires one of the region’s leading leasing managers to fill the urban village’s 250,000 square feet of commercial space.
Tacoma, WA – Point Ruston, LLC announces the addition of Alesha Shemwell to lead the commercial leasing operations for the mixed-use center’s retail core, dubbed the Waterwalk at Point Ruston (5005 Ruston Way, Tacoma, WA 98407).
The Waterwalk at Point Ruston, a $150 million mixed-use shopping center at the heart of the Point Ruston project, is currently under construction. The site is situated along 97-acres and one-mile of Puget Sound shoreline. The neighborhood being constructed at The Waterwalk at Point Ruston will feature a lifestyle shopping center with more than 250,000 square feet of space, featuring four high-end restaurants, cafés, bistros & wine bar, and many exciting retail shops. The shopping center will be anchored by a four-star 175-room Silver Cloud Hotel and Convention Center, a full service grocery and deli, and a brand new 9-screen Century Theatre at Point Ruston.
Mike Cohen, Manager of the development company behind Point Ruston, expressed confidence in bringing Shemwell to the development. “Adding a natural leader like Alesha to the Point Ruston team will have a significant impact on the quality of commercial tenants and, subsequently, the experience of Waterwalk residents and visitors.” Cohen added, “I am confident Alesha’s experience in securing and retaining strong commercial tenants will be a valuable addition to our existing commercial leasing team.”
Shemwell expressed similar assurance regarding her contribution to the Point Ruston team. “I am excited to work on such an amazing project that will positively affect the Tacoma Waterfront forever. The property’s location, pedestrian-friendly design, and proposed commercial mix will attract high quality tenants that provide for a one-of-a-kind waterfront experience.” She added, “I feel lucky to be part of Point Ruston.”
Shemwell is currently the Washington State Director for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and has held many other board positions since joining ICSC in 1999. Prior to joining the Point Ruston team, Shemwell held positions of increasing responsibility with the Macerich Company, culminating with her role as the Assistant Vice President of Leasing. At Macerich, Shemwell was responsible for leasing 3.5 million square feet of retail and office space among four shopping centers in Oregon and Washington.
