We would love to hear your thoughts about what businesses would make a fantastic addition to the Point Ruston community. Today is the last day, 5 lucky winners will each receive 2 Tickets to the World Premiere of the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II Double Feature Event!

To enter to win, please submit the name of any business that you would like to see open for business in Point Ruston!

    I think a shop for rentals, i.e., bikes, boards, water toys. To include beach chairs, towels, and anything pertaining to the beach and wonderful Puget Sound.

    If considering chain stores or restaurants think high end nothing like the strip malls in every city. Dean and Deluca for gourmet grocery. Restaurants think native foods or veggie grill or purple cafe and wine bar. Yoga or pure barre or cardio barre. Bike & water sport rentals. Blue Mercury for spa/products from Seattle also London Plane gourmet Seattle. Taco Guaymas west Seattle

    With the waterfront so close and all of the great views, a gelato or yogurt shop like Menchies would be great. A cafe like Wild Wheat would do really well there also. Nothing like waterfront dining. Another great idea would be adding something family friendly like a pottery painting shop.

    My dream = Indoor farmers market/gourmet eatery area like the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Stock it with little outposts of local favs like Infinite Soups, Ice Cream Social, Valhalla Coffee, Peterson Brothers, Taylor Shellfish bar, Abeille Baking Company, the Proctor Farmers Market tamale maker, and a produce stand from Zestful Gardens.

    The rock. Adding this restaurant will bring in a lot of business. On the waterfront all the restaurants are always busy but people usually get pretty tired of those same ones. The rock has such a variety to offer it would be perfect.

    would love to see a Trader Joe’s. The only grocery store in Ruston (with the exception of gas stations) is the Safeway 2 1/2 miles away.

    Bengal Tiger is an amazing Seattle-based Indian restaurant that we would love to have open a new location in Point Ruston. We always make a point of eating there whenever we’re up north. Best Indian cuisine we have ever eaten (and we’ve tried a LOT, lol!)

    the baked bear. They have a few of these down in california. It’s an ice cream and cookie place where you build your own ice cream sandwhiches. You pick any cookie from their list of probably 20, then your choice of ice cream scoop from all the flavors, and then you can pick a 2nd kind of cookie to top it. It’s fantastic, and i think would go really well down on the waterfront in Ruston.

    A higher end store with gifts, food and assorted, usable items made in Tacoma. A store which will be another tourist grab with a good reputation and which will give tourists another reason to make the visit to Pt. Defiance Park and zoo. Maybe an original hybrid store of an upper end grocery market for the locals, and the other part uniquely Tacoma. Anything to raise Tacoma back to a city with favorable recognition, rather than the ghetto notion many people still have of Tacoma.

    restaurant ideas: Din Tai Fung, Cold Stone
    exercise: Hot Yoga, paddle boarding/kayaking shop that offers lessons
    entertainment: upscale bowling or arcade or pool hall (something for the kids as well)
    retail: furniture store or home decorations (Kasala, crate and barrel, ethan allen)
